Vol. 221 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Farms Schemes.

39.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries how it is proposed to allocate, and upon what schemes, the £100,000 which the Minister for Finance said in his Budget statement would be reserved for the small farms; how much it represents for each farm; and what fraction per £1, per 1/- or per 1d of the increased taxation announced in the Budget the said £100,000 represents.

As I indicated to the House on Thursday last this sum has been provided for any new schemes to assist the small western farmer which may be decided upon.

I do not think it is one of my functions to make arithmetical calculations for the Deputy.

In view of the fact that this represents a halfpenny per £1 in the increase of £12 million taxation, would the Minister consider raising it from Deputy Burke's sixpenny appeal this morning?
