Vol. 221 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Economic Expansion Investment Needs.

14.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Finance if it is intended to revise the investment needs of the Second Programme for Economic Expansion in the light of the current economic position.

I would refer the Deputy to paragraph 63 of the Second Programme for Economic Expansion Progress Report for 1965 which states that, in the light of progress to date and of the required growth rates for the remainder of the period, studies are now being made of the main targets of the Programme, including investment and savings.

Are they being made by astrologers or soothsayers?

By practical men.

Mr. O'Leary

Can the Minister say when he expects the survey to be completed?

In the course of a couple of months, I would say. I have not got the exact date.

After the Presidential election?

It depends on whether they are astrologers or soothsayers.
