Vol. 221 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Tenders.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of 1965-66 in expansion of a reply of 30th November, 1965 (a) average tender prices, (b) lowest tender prices, and (c) highest tender prices for houses erected by or on behalf of the National Building Agency.

Variations in design, specification and size affect the relativity of tender prices of houses provided by the National Building Agency Ltd. Bearing such variations in mind, the accepted tender price for a typical house of 975 square feet, with a garage provided by the Agency in 1965-66 is, on average, £2,414, the lowest price being £2,100, and the highest £2,600. Excluding the cost of garages at £200 each, approximately, the average tender price per square foot for such a house is 45/5 for substructure, superstructure and all site-work within the curtilage of the house. An increase of 3/6 and a decrease of 5/3 per square foot from the average price per square foot indicate the highest and lowest tender rates accepted for such a house.
