Vol. 221 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rates Relief and Milk Prices.

47.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what undertaking, promise or guarantee he gave to the deputation from the NFA who met him recently in regard to the farmers' problems as a result of which the NFA called off their rates slow payment campaign; if any promises were made in regard to (a) relief of rates and (b) price of milk; if so, why no provision has been made by the Government to meet the wishes of the deputation in this regard; what he proposes to do about the matter; and if he will make a general statement in regard to his discussion with the farmers when he received this deputation.

This did not arise. I would refer the Deputy to the statement issued jointly by the Association and myself on 22nd December last.

Surely the Minister made them some promise before they called off the rates campaign?
