asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Limerick Markets Trustees levy tolls on all agricultural goods including livestock for bacon factories; and if he will take such steps as are necessary to abolish these tolls, as Limerick is the only city in Ireland where they are levied.

17.
I am informed that the Limerick Markets Trustees levy tolls under section 5 of the Limerick Markets Act, 1872, which is a private Act. I have no detailed information as to the nature and extent of goods or livestock on which tolls are levied by the trustees. I am having inquiries made in the matter and will communicate with the Deputy in due course.
