Vol. 221 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Scandinavian Airlines Services.

6.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether an application has been received from Scandinavian Airlines for permission to operate services into and out of this country; and if he will outline the purpose and extent of these services.

The Air Transport Agreement of 1947 between Ireland and Denmark provides for the operation of air services between the two countries by the airlines of the two countries. Under the terms of this Agreement, the Scandinavian Airlines System propose to operate as from 1st April two round trips weekly on the route Copenhagen-Manchester-Dublin. I presume that the purpose of the service is to share in the traffic flowing between Denmark and Ireland. No other proposals have been received in respect of the Scandinavian Airlines.
