Vol. 222 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Holdings in Longford-Westmeath.

59.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) the names of the estates in Westmeath in the hands of the Land Commission, (b) their acreage, (c) the dates on which they were acquired, and (d) the date on which it is expected that they will be divided.

60.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) the names of the estates in Longford in the hands of the Land Commission, (b) their acreage, (c) the date on which they were acquired, and (d) the date on which it is expected that they will be divided.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 59 and 60 together.

The current season's land settlement programme, which has been gathering momentum in recent months, is now at its peak. This means that the position regarding lands taken over by the Land Commission for division throughout the country generally is rapidly changing from day to day. For that reason, statistics on the lines requested, if compiled as of now, would be very quickly out of date.

In the circumstances, perhaps the Deputy would repeat the questions in about a month's time, when a more realistic assessment of the position should be feasible.
