The Land Commission have been endeavouring to formulate proposals for the resale of this extensive bog which would be acceptable to all parties claiming rights of turbary on it. Last year about 30 of the former tenants on the Byron Estate accepted the Land Commission's proposals but attempts to reach agreement with the remainder did not succeed. Revised plans for the division of the bog have now been approved and provided that these are acceptable to the parties involved, development work will commence this spring or early in the summer.
