Vol. 222 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cavan County Council Loans.

24.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which Cavan County Council last applied for a loan under the provisions of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts, and the amount applied for; whether any loan has been sanctioned by him; if so, the amount; and if no loan has yet been sanctioned when he proposes to sanction same and the amount.

Application was made by Cavan County Council on 13th May, 1965, for sanction to a loan of £50,000 for the making of house-purchase loans. The loan was sanctioned on 12th July, 1965. No further loan application has since been submitted by the council. At 31st March, 1966, there was an undrawn balance of £38,000 in respect of this loan. The capital allocation to the council for 1966-67 for house-purchase loans is £35,000.

25.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government if he has yet approved of the necessary loan to enable Cavan Urban Council to provide additional filter beds and a microstrainer; and, if not, the cause of the delay.

No application for sanction to a loan for the work in question has yet been received from the urban district council. Technical observations on various aspects of the proposal as submitted were conveyed to the town surveyor a week ago at a conference with an inspector of my Department. The matter is now under review by the county manager.
