Vol. 222 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mooncoin (Kilkenny) Water Scheme.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government when work is likely to commence on the Mooncoin regional water scheme, County Kilkenny.

Tenders for the Mooncoin regional water supply scheme are, together with a number of similar proposals, at present under examination in my Department.

I am not in a position to state when work on the scheme is likely to commence.

Could the Minister say if these tenders will be sanctioned?

Yes, the tenders will be sanctioned.

Is it possible that work will commence, then, within the next few months?

I could not say that at all.

Could the Minister say when he will be in a position to say that work will commence?

I presume after I have sanctioned it; whatever time that may be, and subject to everything else being in order.

I understood the Minister to say he had sanctioned the tenders.

I said I will sanction them.

If the Minister waits as long as the North Dublin housing scheme, we will have to wait over 25 years—since Deputy Burke was a black-haired youth!

I had the pleasure of starting it anyhow.
