Vol. 222 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Exchange Equipment.

18.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that equipment now being used in Priory Park exchange, Dublin has not been certified in the usual way; and whether he is satisfied that the procedure adopted with the suppliers (name given) guarantees reliability of equipment.

The equipment has been certified in the usual way. I am satisfied that the procedure for acceptance of equipment is in all respects satisfactory.

Mr. O'Leary

I understand that due to the trade dispute in the firm concerned the Department have not complied with the usual regulations in passing over this equipment. It has not been tested, as the Minister said, for use. The Department's attitude in using it has prolonged the present industrial dispute.

That is not correct.

Mr. O'Leary

Is the Minister stating that the equipment has been passed in the usual manner?

Yes, in the usual manner.
