Vol. 223 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of State Cars.

32.

asked the Minister for Justice whether motor cars BZI 305 and TZI 309 are State cars; and, if so, to whom they were allotted on the 1st June, 1966.

Car BZI 305 is a State car and was allocated to the Minister for Social Welfare on 1st June, 1966. The other car referred to by the Deputy is not a State car.

Is the Taoiseach aware that the Minister for Social Welfare's car was used the whole of that day in Ballyfermot driving in voters for the Presidential election?

That is not correct.

It was the last safeguard in that election.

You used the Tenants Association money.

(Interruptions.)

Is the Taoiseach deaf? Can he not hear the allegations?

I just want to assure the House that the allegation made by Deputy Sweetman is untrue.

It is true; it was there all day.

It is entirely true.

The operation in Ballyfermot was seen by the people of Ballyfermot.

My constituents in Ballyfermot will not like this discussion.

Are they not concerned with the use of State cars and State money; does that not concern them in Ballyfermot?
