Vol. 224 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Commissioners Act.

6.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the names and addresses of the persons holding positions in his Department in respect of whom the Civil Service Commissioners made an order under section 5 (3) of the Civil Service Commissioners Act in August last, and the duties performed by them.

Two unestablished female officers in my Department, who are engaged in routine clerical duties, are covered by the Order in question. These officers were recruited under an order made under section 5 (3) of the Civil Service Commissioners Act as female clerical assistants in the Department of Supplies in 1942 and it has been necessary to make further orders periodically, from time to time, extending the validity of the original order so as to permit their retention in the Civil Service. It is not normal practice to give the names and addresses of the officers concerned in cases like this but if the Deputy wishes to have them, I will be happy to communicate them to him privately.
