asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state for each of the years 1965 and 1966 (a) how many industrial inquiries the Industrial Development Authority received for the entire country; (b) the number of inquiries which resulted in industries being successfully established in the country; (c) the number of inquiries and industries established related to each of the 12 western counties; (d) the number related to the rest of the country; and (e) the present position as regards each of the projects.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report. The statement includes, in reply to part (e) of the question, particulars of the numbers of factories under construction as at 31st December, 1966; other industrial proposals current at that date were at varying stages and it would not be possible to furnish in respect of them the information requested.
Following is the statement:
The Industrial Development Authority do not maintain records of all inquiries which they receive. The records indicate only the numbers current at the end of each quarter. For this reason it is not possible to state the numbers of all inquiries received in 1965 and 1966. Furthermore, since very few inquiries mention location it is not possible to give a breakdown by areas.
