Vol. 227 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donnelly (Dublin) Ltd.

141.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what public funds by way of grants, loans or otherwise were given to Donnelly (Dublin) Ltd. within the past ten years; and what arrangements were made at the time any such moneys were given to protect the public interest.

The annual reports of An Foras Tionscal for the years 1961-65 show that an industrial grant of £100,000 was paid by An Foras Tionscal to Donnelly (Dublin) Ltd. Various technical assistance grants amounting to £5,236 were paid to the firm from the Vote for my Department.

I understand that, under the conditions of the industrial grant, An Foras Tionscal have reserved the right to revoke the grant and claim repayment if there should be a winding up of the company within ten years from the date of the completion of payment of the grant.

The technical assistance scheme administered by my Department does not provide for the repayment of grants made.

I have no function in the matter of industrial loans.

Could the Minister indicate what effect this will have on the take over?

The power to recover arises in the event of a winding up of the company within ten years from the date of completion of payment of grant. The company has not been wound up.
