asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of new industries established since 1957.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Industries.
In the period 1st January, 1958 to 31st December, 1966, 359 new industries and extensions to existing industries, excluding projects in which the capital investment is less than £10,000 in each case, came to notice as having commenced production.
Are they all in existence? Did they all get off the ground?
They all commenced production. I cannot say positively whether they are all in existence but, if they are not, the bulk of them are.
How can the Minister say that?
That I know. I know that there has not been a failure rate to any substantial extent in new industries which have commenced since 1958.
Does the Minister know how many failures?
I think I do. I said there was not a substantial number of failures.
How can the Minister say that when he has not got the figures?
I have all the figures I was asked for.
Does that figure include Potez?
You have nothing to talk about at all. You must be delighted it has not opened.
