Vol. 227 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Open Space.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of complaints to the effect that Dublin County Council have refused to maintain the open space at Muckross Green although the roadway there has been taken in charge; and if he will take steps to ensure that the local authority will discharge this obligation to the ratepayers.

The open space at Muckross Green is still the property of the estate developers who are liable for its proper maintenance. I am informed that the county council is willing to take the space in charge and to maintain it and has, in fact, made repeated endeavours to have it transferred to the council, but the developers have not, as yet, executed the necessary deed of grant. The council are in communication with the developers on the matter.

Are there any steps the Minister can take to bring this most unsatisfactory situation to an end? He is as familiar with it as I am.

I will take whatever steps are possible.
