asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of the year 1966-67 if available, and if not for the last available year, the amount by which revenue would have been diminished by the increase of ten per cent in each of the following allowances: (1) the earned income allowance (a) retaining the maximum allowance of £500 and (b) extending the maximum allowance to £600; (2) the age allowance of one-quarter (a) retaining the maximum allowance of £150 and aggregate allowance to £500 and (b) extending the maximum allowance to £200 and income to £750; and (3) the small income relief of one-quarter (a) retaining maximum income of £450 and (b) extending it to £600.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

It is estimated that the cost on a current basis would be of the order of £300,000 in the first year and £400,000 in a full year.
