Vol. 227 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensions Increase.

36.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of an application for increased old age pension payment (particulars supplied) (a) the date on which application was made to his Department by the applicant; (b) whether any reply was sent to the applicant; (c) the date on which representations were made to the Secretary of the Department by me; (d) the date of acknowledgment; (e) the date on which adjudication of claim may be expected; and (f) the cause of the delay in dealing with this matter.

The particulars sought by the Deputy are as follows: (a) 7/11/66; (b) no; the claim was made locally; (c) 31/1/67; (d) 2/2/67; (e) at the next meeting of the Cork Central Old Age Pension Committee; (f) difficulty, during a period of heavy pressure of work, in locating the pensioner's original claim which. I regret, had unfortunately been misfiled.

37.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare what is the present position regarding the granting of increases in their pension to the seven old age pensioners in Ballinskelligs and the one in Killarney, County Kerry, on whose behalf three letters have been submitted to his Department, receiving only formal acknowledgment but no direct reply; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Replies have been issued to the Deputy regarding his representations on behalf of the seven pensioners in the Ballinskelligs area. The case in Killarney was the subject of an appeal and reply to the Deputy's representations was deferred pending the decision of the appeals officer. It has now been determined that the claimant is not entitled to pension as her means exceed the statutory limit.
