Vol. 227 No. 12

39.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare (a) the total number of old age pensioners in each county, and (b) the number who received the 5/- increase which came into operation in November 1966.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate the information requested at (a) in the form of a tabular statement with the Official Report. With regard to (b), statistics of pensioners who received the 5/- increase, which did not apply to contributory pensions, are not available in respect of each county.

Following is the statement:

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of old age pensioners who applied for the extra 5/- in (a) County Roscommon and (b) County Leitrim; and the number who have been granted the increase in each county.

Statistics of pensioners who applied for or received the 5/- increase have not been compiled in respect of each county.

I do not think it would be a difficult job to compile them.
