Vol. 228 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ireland-Britain Air Services.

8.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether permission has been granted to Autair to operate scheduled services between Britain and Ireland; and, if so, if he will give details of the particular services, and the precise functions of his Department in the matter of granting permission for new air services.

Permission has not been granted to Autair International Airways Ltd. to operate scheduled, as distinct from non-scheduled, services between Britain and this country nor has any application for permission been received in my Department.

Under the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1965, no air service may be operated to, from or within the country, without my prior permission. In considering an application for permission to operate a service, regard is had to the need for such a service and its likely effects on services operated by the national carrier.
