asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in relation to grants for swimming pools in the Dublin area following his recent meeting with members of Dublin City Council; and if he is prepared to approve the construction of two swimming pools, one in Townsend Street and another in Crumlin, on the recommendation of Dublin Corporation.

Subsidy at the rate of 50 per cent of the loan charges arising on the necessary borrowing for swimming pools will be made available to the corporation. I understand that tenders were recently invited for the erection of swimming pools on a package basis and that the closing date for the receipt of tenders is the 4th proximo.
The location of the proposed pools will be a matter for determination by the corporation in the first instance. If the locations mentioned are recommended, I will raise no objection.
