Vol. 231 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Telephones.

6.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make arrangements to have the telephone at present in the premises of a person (name supplied) at Loughshinny, County Dublin moved out to a kiosk as the owner is agreeable and as the residents are anxious to have access to a telephone after normal business hours.

If the public telephone referred to is removed, the question of providing a kiosk will be considered.

7.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is now in a position to state when additional telephone cables will be provided in the Ballymun area, having regard to the number of applicants awaiting the installation of telephones.

A major cabling scheme in progress in the area in question is due to be completed within the next eight months.

8.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the cause of the delay in supplying telephone service to applicants in the Cabra area; and when such applicants can expect to obtain this service.

The general position in Cabra is quite good. About threequarters of the area has no deferred applications and in the remainder the waiting list comprises only ten cases. It is expected that these will have attention within the next few months.
