asked the Minister for Justice the number of prosecutions of (a) pedestrians and (b) motorists for proceeding against the traffic lights at the GPO, Dawson Street and Grafton Street, Dublin, during the past 12 months; and the number convicted.

Since 1st January, 1967, a total of 380 pedestrians were prosecuted and 172 convicted of breaches of the Road Traffic Bye-laws at the traffic lights at the GPO.

One motorist was prosecuted for a breach of the bye-laws at the GPO and one for a breach of the bye-laws at the traffic-lights at Dawson Street. Both were convicted.

No pedestrians were prosecuted in relation to the traffic lights at Dawson Street or Grafton Street and no motorist was prosecuted in relation to the traffic lights at Grafton Street.
