Vol. 238 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foxrock (Dublin) Open Space.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the concern being caused to residents by the total neglect of the open space at Beechpark Avenue and Beechpark Drive, Foxrock, County Dublin; and when the residents can finally be told that the open space will be taken in charge.

I understand from Dublin County Council that they are at present compiling the necessary facts regarding this case with a view to taking enforcement action under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, in order to have the open space put into proper condition.

Can the Minister say when this suburban saga will come to an end? It has been going on now for four or five years and there have been quite a number of meetings of associations in connection with this particular problem. I would ask the Minister to bring it to the attention of the council that they should issue this enforcement order as a matter of urgency.

I certainly regard it as a matter of urgency. This has been going on for some time, but others have been going on longer, and this is, I think, now in its concluding stages.
