The EEC Commission announced recently that it had adopted a proposal, to be made to the Council of Ministers, for a directive which would allow lawyers who are nationals of member states of the community to consult, advise and plead orally throughout the community territory. It is understood from the Department of External Affairs that the proposal is still in an early stage of its consideration.
When the English text of the draft proposal is available, I shall communicate it to the professional bodies concerned.
