Vol. 241 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Airport Railway Link.

217.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether the Government have yet decided in principle that a new rail line to Dublin Airport should be built; and, if so, the anticipated date of construction.

No proposal for a new rail line to Dublin Airport has been considered by the Government. Responsibility for planning arrangements for transportation between the airport and the city centre rests in the first instance with the planning authorities. However, in view of the importance of airport traffic my Department and CIE are in close touch with the Department of Local Government and the planning authorities with a view to ensuring that adequate surface transport facilities will be provided between the airport and the city centre to cope with the expected growth of traffic at the airport.
