asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the widespread pollution of the Tolka river; and what steps he is taking to ensure that industrial waste is not being emptied into the river.

95.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the widespread danger to health of residents living near the Tolka river owing to increased dumping in that river; and what steps he can take to protect the health of these residents.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I proposed to take Questions Nos. 94 and 95 together.

These are matters for the sanitary authorities concerned who are required to take any necessary measures to ensure that the position is kept under control.
