Under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act, 1961, the provision of parking meters in Dublin city is a matter for the Dublin Corporation and the Garda commissioner acting in consultation. As the corporation will be providing and operating the meters it is more appropriate that any statement on the subject should issue from them. I note from a press report that they have already issued an informative statement.
