Vol. 241 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Westmeath Garda Station.

128.

asked the Minister for Justice if any decision has been made in regard to the erection of a new garda station for Ballinahowan, County Westmeath, as this garda area covers a large portion of County Offaly and public disapproval has been expressed in regard to the proposed closing of this station; and if steps will be taken to have the new building provided without delay.

As indicated in my reply to the Deputy on 16th July, the closing of Ballinahowan garda station is dependent upon the outcome of an examination of the police needs of the sub-district.

The matter is still under consideration in conjunction with a general review which I am making of the organisation of the force.
