Vol. 242 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Kerry County Council intend to improve the filtration system at the head works of the Killorglin water scheme at Glencuttane, County Kerry; and, if so, when the extra plant can be expected to be installed.

There are no proposals before my Department in this matter.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the findings of the public inquiry about the sewerage scheme at Dromahair, County Leitrim, will be made known to the county council; and when the findings of the public inquiry about laying of new roadway at Larkfield, Manorhamilton, County Leitrim, will be made known to Leitrim County Council.

Final consideration of Leitrim County Council's request for confirmation of a compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of land for the proposed sewerage scheme at Dromahair has been deferred pending the outcome of an application under the Fisheries Acts by the council for a licence to discharge sewage from the proposed scheme into the Bonet river.

On 18th April, 1969 I confirmed a compulsory purchase order made by the council for the acquisition of land for the purpose of providing a new road to replace a section of the Drumkeeran-Manorhamilton Road. This order included lands at Larkfield.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government what plans Kerry County Council have on hands for establishing a sewerage system for the Firies cottages.

There are no proposals before my Department in this matter.

34.

andMr. Conlan asked the Minister for Local Government if at any time since 1930 a proposal to provide sewerage facilities at Drumconrath, County Meath was received in his Department; and, if so, whether sanction was given for the execution of such work.

35.

andMr. Conlan asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a public health hazard exists at Drumconrath, County Meath owing to lack of proper sewerage facilities as ordinary street drains are the only sewerage outlet available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 34 and 35 together.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of a proposal to provide such facilities. On the latest information available to me, the provision of improved sewerage facilities for Drumconrath is not regarded by the local authority as having a high priority on their water and sewerage programme.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether there are any proposals in his Department for the carrying out of a regional water supply scheme at Athleague, County Roscommon.

Preliminary proposals for this scheme have been submitted to my Department by Roscommon County Council and are at present under consideration.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the group water scheme at Brierfield, Ballinasloe, at Ballinastack, Glenamaddy and at Ballaghlea, Ballygar, County Galway.

The position regarding these schemes is as follows:

Brierfield, Ballinasloe. The design of this scheme has been submitted to Galway County Council for approval.

Ballinastack, Glenamaddy. This scheme, known officially as Cloominda Group Water Supply Scheme, has recently been approved by Galway County Council. Up-to-date quotations for the necessary materials are being sought by the group.

Ballaghlea, Ballygar. Investigations are in progress to locate an adequate supply of water for this scheme.
