Vol. 242 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deaths from Respiratory Diseases.

14.

asked the Minister for Health the number of deaths from respiratory diseases in the Dublin area and in the Cork area over the past three years.

In Dublin, the numbers of deaths from diseases of the respiratory system were 1,238 in 1966, 918 in 1967 and 1,053 in 1968. The figures for the corresponding years in Cork were 567, 388 and 500.

What is the reason for the irregularity in these figures? They are not consistent. There is a drop for the middle year and a big rise again for the third year.

I would not know.
