Vol. 242 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - District Medical Officers.

15.

asked the Minister for Health when he envisages that he will be able to make more permanent appointments for district medical officers to ensure greater continuity of service and to give such officers full pension rights.

The Local Appointments Commission has been requested to hold further competitions for permanent district medical officer appointments in a number of districts where the making of new permanent appointments will not create difficulty for the operation of the new service with choice of doctor. A competition for 18 posts was advertised by the commission on 28th October and it is expected that further posts will be advertised soon.

Are these permanent posts?
