Vol. 242 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Schemes.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will specify the housing, water and sewerage schemes received by his Department from Cork County Council in respect of south and west Cork; and when sanction may be expected in respect of each such scheme.

As the reply includes a tabular statement, I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

As regards the housing schemes shown on the statement I hope to be in a position to give a decision on the revised layout plan submitted for the proposed housing development at Blarney shortly. The remaining housing proposals are under examination and decisions will be given on them as soon as possible.

In so far as the public water and sewerage schemes are concerned, I hope to be able to convey a decision on a number of the major water supply schemes in the near future. In addition my Department are currently investigating a number of the minor water supply extensions involved, with a view to their being carried out by State and local authority grant-aided group co-operative effort where this seems to be a more appropriate method.

Following is the statement:

asked the Minister for Local Government when sanction will be given to the proposals for a sewerage scheme for Clonmel; and whether he will specially expedite sanction in view of the fact that 118 houses at present being built are due to be served by it.

I hope to convey a decision on this matter shortly.

Could the Minister give some indication as to when? It is in his Department for some time past and the matter is of great urgency.

It will be fairly soon. That is all I can say.

Within a fortnight?

Probably around that.
