asked the Minister for Finance the total overdraft accommodation extended to State and semi-State companies by the commercial banks at the last date for which figures are available.

The total amount of advances by the associated banks to State-sponsored bodies as at 21st October, 1969, the latest date for which information is available was £24.23 million. Separate figures are not available under the heading of overdraft accomodation but the greater part of the advances consisted of such accommodation.

The total amount of advances by the associated banks to local authorities as at 21st October, 1969, the latest date for which information is available, was £10.25 million. While separate figures are not available the bulk of the advances consisted of overdraft accommodation.
