Vol. 243 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Amenity Plots.

88.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will give details of the allotments for amenity plots of ten acres of the Peet Estate, Ballymacelligott, County Kerry.

Allotments on this estate included three amenity plots comprising 0 acres 3 roods 2 perches, 0 acres 3 roods 20 perches and 8 acres 0 roods 18 perches respectively. The two plots of less than an acre were provided so as to facilitate the allottees in securing access to water. The eight-acre plot consists of the estate orchard; the allottee and his father (now deceased) were formerly employed as gardeners by the Peet family.

In view of the Minister's statement last week about land division I would point out to him that on this occasion some of those who applied were passed over.

The Deputy will appreciate that I was giving expression to views on changes I should like to see in the whole Land Commission procedure and approach to Land Commission activities. What was done in regard to this estate was done pursuant to existing policy.
