Vol. 244 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conroy Commission Report.

102.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will make a statement on the implementation by the Government of the recommendations contained in the report of the Conroy Commission.

I would refer the Deputy to my published statement of February 3rd which was as follows:-

The Government have today decided to implement the recommendations of the commission in relation to the basic pay of all ranks of the Force with effect from 1st June, 1969.

The Government, at the request of the Garda Síochána Joint Representative Body, have also decided to set up the Consultative Council recommended by the Commission to consider, initially, how the recommendations of the commission in relation to hours of work, overtime and night-duty allowance can be implemented at the earliest practicable date. The council will also consider, in due course, other recommendations of the Commission.
