Vol. 244 No. 5

Written Answers. - St. Enda's, Rathfarnham.

225.

asked the Minister for Finance why his Department recently refused permission to a press photographer to take photographs of St. Enda's, Rathfarnham, Dublin; if permission to photograph will now be granted; if not, why; to what use will St. Enda's be put; at what cost; and when.

It was understood that the permission sought covered the photographing of the interior of the building at St. Enda's and it is considered that it would be inappropriate at the present stage to permit this. There would be no objection to photographing the outside of the building.

In accordance with the wish of the trustees to the deed under which the late Senator Miss M. Pearse settled St. Enda's and the surrounding grounds on the State arrangements are being made for the handing over of the property by the trustees at a formal ceremony in April next. It is hoped to have announced on that occasion the Government's proposals for the future use of the property.

It is not possible at present to give an estimate of the cost of implementing those proposals.
