Vol. 244 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boarding-out Allowances.

15.

asked the Minister for Health if he will sympathetically consider taking steps to alter the present statutory position which precludes him from approving boarding-out allowances in respect of children over the age of sixteen years who would normally qualify but whose applications were received after their sixteenth birthday (details supplied).

In the normal course boarding out allowances cease when a child reaches sixteen years of age. However, a health authority may, with my consent, continue to support a child who has reached 16 years to enable him to complete his education.
