Vol. 244 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal River Drainage.

56.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make money available for the cleaning of the River Finn, County Donegal; if he is aware of the extensive flooding which is caused; and when it is proposed to have the river drained.

The Finn is included in the approved priority list of major catchments to be considered under the Arterial Drainage Acts. Having regard to present commitments and the extent of the drainage problem throughout the country I cannot say when it can be reached in the drainage programme.

Is the Minister aware that, as a result of the flooding of the Finn at Ballybofey, Finn Harps almost beat Dundalk in the FA Cup and we would like the Parliamentary Secretary to move this river up in the priority list and not allow that to happen again?

I can assure the Deputy that when that happens again the Deputy and I will both have retired.

Question No. 57 postponed.
