Vol. 244 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Skim Milk Powder.

23.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what the market will be like for skim milk powder for the coming season; and how the price will compare with the 1968 and 1969 seasons.

Prices for skim milk powder on world markets have recently risen above the levels which prevailed in 1968 and 1969. Present prospects are that the improvement can be maintained for the coming season.

Do I take it that the price of skim milk for the coming season will compare favourably with that of the past two seasons?

I suppose one could say the Deputy would be entitled to make such a deduction.

Would it be true?

This can only be found out during its operation.

(Cavan): What does the Minister think?

There is no point in my promising something. I cannot settle that. If I could I would.

Could the Minister give any indication of the price?

I am giving the Deputy hope. I can give him no more.
