A syllabus in physical education was issued early this year to all post-primary schools. It was recommended that this syllabus, which includes organised athletic games as a suggested area of work, should be used in every school in which it is feasible to do so.
It is laid down in the rules and programme for secondary schools that the curriculum of a secondary school should include provision for physical education or organised athletic games.
Provision for physical education or organised games is a normal feature of the curriculum for vocational schools.
