Vol. 246 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abandoned Animals.

41.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the serious hardship caused to animals such as ponies, donkeys, etc. which have been left by their owners on deserted islands off the Irish coast; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware that the position is as stated by the Deputy.

As regards the recent evacuation of an island off the coast of Donegal, I understand that the few animals left on the island are being attended to and that they have not suffered hardship.
