My approval to the acceptance of a tender for the supply of a lift at Dingle district hospital was conveyed to Kerry County Council on 12th January last and I also agreed at that time to the council's proposal to have the construction of the lift shaft undertaken by direct labour under the supervision of the council's engineering staff.
I am now informed that difficulties have arisen in regard to the employment of direct labour on the construction of the lift shaft and the council now propose to have this work carried out by contract. I understand that the council will advertise for tenders for this work during the current week.
