Vol. 247 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Bridge.

109.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position regarding the provision of a bridge east of Butt Bridge, Dublin; and if the possibility of constructing a tunnel under the River Liffey has been definitely ruled out.

With regard to the proposed bridge at Memorial Road, I have received from Dublin Corporation an application for a bridge order for the construction of a new quay level bridge and I am at present awaiting an estimate of total cost which I have requested the corporation to submit to enable me to proceed with the consideration of the bridge order application.

With regard to the question of a further river crossing in the Macken Street area, the corporation are studying the possibilities of a high level bridge, a quay level bridge and a tunnel.
