Vol. 248 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Health Services.

7.

asked the the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state if employees in the Civil Service are fully or otherwise covered for medical, dental, aural and other health services; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Employees in the Civil Service who are fully insured under the Social Welfare Acts are entitled to the dental, aural and optical benefits available under the Social Welfare Acts. Such employees and all other in the Civil Service, like all other persons, are entitled to the medical services furnished under the Health Acts in so far as they are qualified for those services. As the Deputy is, no doubt, aware the overall responsibility for the administration of the health services rests with the Minister for Health.
