Vol. 248 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

30.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he intends to make available an up-to-date booklet giving full information relating to benefits and entitlement under the Social Welfare Acts.

An up-dated version of the Department's information booklet "Summary of Social Insurance and Assistance Services" has for many years been issued each January to coincide with changes in the social insurance scheme. As a large number of changes will occur next October, it is hoped to publish a revised version of the booklet at that time.

31.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will indicate, in respect of a current date, the number of persons in receipt of each of the social welfare benefits as follows: (a) old age pensions (contributory); (b) old age pension (non-contributory); (c) widows pension (contributory); (d) widows pension (non-contributory); (e) blind persons pensions; and (f) children's allowances.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.
