Vol. 248 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Housing.

79.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of houses erected by Mayo County Council in each year of the ten years ended on 31st March, 1970; and if he will state the locations of the houses erected.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

TABLE showing the number of houses erected yearly by Mayo County Council during the ten year period from the 1st April, 1960 to the 31st March, 1970.

The location of individual rural cottages, mobile homes and demountable dwellings is not readily available in my Department.

(Cavan): It seems a miserable performance.

Mr. J. Lenehan

I did not ask that question at all. I asked the number of conventional houses erected by Mayo County Council. I did not ask about these, which are nothing better than haysheds, stuck up in the last few months. As far as I can see the answer is six houses which represents .6 of a house each year for ten years. I did not ask for particulars about these fakes of houses, including caravans.

(Cavan): Perhaps, with new officers in the county council, more work will be done.

Mr. J. Lenehan

I hope so. I am doing all I can about it.
