Vol. 249 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Reciprocal Recognition of Driving Licences.

100.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the general operation of driving licence tests in the Republic, Northern Ireland and Great Britain and the growing conformity of road traffic legislation in these islands, he is prepared to seek a reciprocal agreement between the Governments for the common recognition of driving licences; and if he has yet completed his investigations of the possibility of concluding agreements on these lines.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to Question No. 98 on the 30th July last which was to the effect that the British Government have indicated that they are not prepared to enter into negotiations on this matter at this stage.
