asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of Christmas cards provided in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970; and the total cost for each year.

32.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if in estimating the cost of Christmas cards and greetings he includes (a) envelopes and (b) estimated Civil Service time.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 31 and 32 together and, as the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, to circulate it with the Official Report.

The costs shown above include, in each case, the cost of envelopes. The despatch of the cards is integrated into the normal routine duties of the staff of my office and the cost of staff time is not, therefore, included.

The cost of Christmas greetings cards sent by the Parliamentary Secretary arose only in 1968 and was borne by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.
